An interior, Black Cat on a Rug is a painting from The Bashful Cat Series, a series of drawings and paintings inspired by the cat Bashful. Bashful came from the local park. Shy, he always was, from a kitten, flirting with me from under the table at the park feeding station. He was Baby's baby. I have known Baby a long time now, and have been unable to trap her for spay neuter. Bashful stayed with his mom a long time, and he would watch with his mom as I played with the other cats from the park. It felt like he wanted to play too, but I couldn't coax him over. Eventually he came to trust me, and after sterilization I brought him home to live with me. You can find The Bashful Cat Series and Gallery under the Galleries tab on my home page.
