This is a beautiful photo my husband took of Solo and me which I cropped and turned into a black and white. I focused on my finger touching her paw and her sweet peekaboo expression. It reminds me of Michelangelo's great painting of God and Adam and creation on the ceiling of The Sistine Chapel. It makes me think of when God created the animals. It is disappointing to me that in traditionally Orthodox Christian countries like Cyprus, Greece, and Romania, animals are treated like mistakes, like pests, and often times like garbage. With the long tradition of reverence for God and creation in Orthodoxy, one would think these countries would be leading the world in the lesson of kindness, compassion and appreciation for all of God's creatures. It is something I would like to see change. In the Orthodox Church Christ is called The New Adam - that is the new example of how we are to say yes to our stewardship and responsibilities, yes to need, yes to care, yes to compassion. He is indeed the new creation. Let's follow in His footsteps and say yes to whatever He asks of us. God does not make mistakes. The animals were not a mistake. They were a gift to help us, to enhance our lives, and to help us in knowing ourselves.
All profit from the sale of my work goes to the support, feeding, rescue, medical care, and TNR of the cats of my village in Cyprus. Thank you for viewing.
