Sometimes I draw what I see with my eyes. Sometimes I draw what I see with my heart. Sometimes, and this is my favorite, I do a little of both at the same time.
This is one of my favorite drawings. If you knew Krystallos, you would understand why. Krystallos was a feral kitten from the local park I fed, treated for cat flu, and adopted. He looks like an Asian tiger.
This is one of those drawings you either get or you don’t, but I stand firmly behind it.
He was an older kitten when I met him, an apparent orphan with no littermates I could find. He looked to every cat at the park as a friend and possible mom and finally decided on Tweeny, a young male. Tweeny was later killed by a car.
Krystallos moves in a slow and thoughtful way, unlike any cat I have seen. And when he is feeling overcome with his slow motion affection, he proceeds into a slow motion love bite that is surprisingly hard and painful, and then, when you wince, he looks up at you with his huge green almond eyes with such slow motion astonishment, that you just want to love all over him, and you forget how much it hurt.
Krystallos won my heart with his mild and unique nature, his affection toward other cats, and his crystalline eyes, (which is where he got his name). He is a most welcome addition to the family and a great muse. I have never known an essence like Krystallos’.
