The first of the series of Bette Davis on the Couch digital paintings. A minimalist, modern cat portrait. This is Bette Davis, a yellow cat, lying on the couch, an L shaped sofa, her solid colored, simplified organic shape contrasts with the geometric and patterned pillow as the Cyprus sunlight streams through the window casting the entire interior into blue shadow. Colorful simple fun happy bold modern and just a touch edgy is how I would describe this cat art. Cats and interiors are among my favorite things to paint and draw. Here primary and secondary colors, ultramarine blue, true yellow, and orange take center stage as they are orchestrated with shapes, patterns and composition, telling a simple, comfortable, and geometric story: a cat is asleep on the couch by a window, next to a vibrant square design - a plaid pillow.
